The C Harmonic Minor scale is a type of diatonic scale that starts and ends on the note C natural. While it was primarily created to aid with chords, it can also be found in melodies. This scale can be heard in a diverse range of musical genres, from classical compositions by Mozart to contemporary pop hits by Katy Perry, as well as in neo-classical metal.

The notes of the C Harmonic Minor Scale are: C, D, Eb, F, G, Ab, B, C
THE C HARMONIC MINOR INTERVALS
The harmonic minor scale is similar to the natural minor scale, except for one key difference: the 7th degree is raised by one semitone. This alteration changes the major 2nd interval between the 6th and 7th notes to an augmented 2nd. The intervals in the C Harmonic Minor scale can be observed below. It’s important to note that these intervals are consistent across all harmonic minor scales.
C HARMONIC MINOR MODES
The natural minor scale is identical to the Aeolian mode. If we raise the 7th note of the Aeolian mode, we obtain the harmonic minor scale, which is denoted as Aeolian #7. One of the benefits of modes is that they are interconnected. For example, A Aeolian and B Locrian share the same notes, with the only difference being that B Locrian begins on a B note. Similarly, C Ionian has the same notes as A Aeolian and B Locrian, except that it starts and finishes on a C note. If you’re unfamiliar with modes, you can find more information in our modes guide. Using this technique, we can construct modes for C Harmonic Minor. The names and notes of these modes are listed below.
